Bray Park – Water Treatment Plant Upgrade

Eire Contractors were engaged as sub-contractors for the mechanical works, pipework, equipment installation, bulk and detailed excavation, roadworks & drainage components of the Bray Park ultra filtration membrane system water treatment plant. The scope of work includes; the membrane building, chemical building, sludge dewatering building, PAC contact tanks, wastewater thickener, raw water strainers, wastewater/supernatant tank, clearwater reservoir & pump station, inter connecting pipe work bulk & detail excavation and roadworks.

A new 900 diameter & 1200 diameter MSCL raw water main was installed to run through a set of raw water strainers and into the powdered activated carbon contacting tank then into the membrane building.

The equipment through this section of the project included two heavy duty automatic self cleaning pressure strainers designed for continuous removal of particles with the appropriate standby dry mounted centrifugal strainer backwash pumps capable of 60 l/sec at 36M total head.

Provision of two SP Kinney 36” model AP strainer units, two KSB Ajax strainer backwash pumps, a single spiral CS-OK 300 in channel screen and two Flygt NP3127MT submersible pumps with 202 diameter impellors.

The flocculation tanks are equipped with mechanical mixers and manual sluice gate valves.

The membrane building which is the main plant building, consists of two working floor levels and contains the flocculation tanks and membrane equipment as well as the control room, laboratory, office, membrane viewing area, main switch room and amenities.

The pipework systems in the membrane facility includes pipework for the: air scour, permeate, backpulse, drain recirculation, backpulse tank fill, CIP, compressed air, vacuum and other connected ancillary systems.

The general equipment included in the membrane facility are the Zenon membrane lifting module and access platform, and the Zenon membrane modules and cassettes.

The permeate pipe system comprises the permeate pumps, flow meters, pressure transmitters, turbidity meters, permeate particle counters and sample pumps.

The various other systems include all pumps, meters and transmitters,

A new 1200 diameter MSCL treated water line has been installed to run from the membrane building down to the existing treated water reservoir and pumping station.

Eire contractors are installing al the chemical treatment pipework and facilities to the chemical building which is adjacent to the membrane building and contains facilities for unloading, storage and dosing of the chemicals used in the water treatment process.

Eire is also installing all the pipework and equipment in the sludge handling building which consists of the centrifuge equipment for dewatering solids removed from the raw water.

We are also constructing the ring road which circumnavigates the site providing safe traffic flow to the area.
