Gold Coast Pipeline Augmentation Project

Client: Gold Coast Water

This project was for the installation of new pipelines in the locations as described below.  All sections required that we would:

  • Undertake pre-construction activities, including, preparation and submission of site management plans (including Environmental Management, Traffic Management, Safety Management, Quality Management and general coordination of the work);
  • Complete site investigations on the proposed alignment including location of existing surface fittings, underground and overhead services, sewers, rising mains, manholes in the vicinity of site;
  • Prepare and submit a Draft design for review by the Client;
  • Submit ‘For construction’ drawings, for review by the Client;
  • Carry out all earthworks and road works, as per GCW standards;
  • Carry out testing and commissioning;
  • Remove and dispose of all disconnected pipes and material from site within two (2) working days of disconnection, in the approved manner;
  • Undertake all other items required to complete the installation, including traffic management and site restoration;
  • Submit ‘As-constructed’ drawings.

  Cairns Ave, Palm Beach

  • Replacement of approximately 315m of the existing 225mm underground AC main with 225mm PVC;
  • Carry out tie- ins at both ends and cap all open ends of decommissioned mains;
  • Provision of an appropriately sized air valve and a scour valve, where required;
  • Provision of appropriately designed thrust blocks, anchor blocks and pipe supports;

Greer Terrace, Southport

  • Replacement of approximately 129m of the existing 600mm underground AC main. The existing main is significantly deep, but the new main will generally be constructed at standard depth;
  • Carry out tie- ins at both ends and cap all open ends of decommissioned mains;
  • Provision of appropriately sized air valve in a pit large enough for a de-ordourisation unit supplied by GCW (200L capacity activated carbon drum).;
  • Provision of appropriately designed thrust blocks, anchor blocks and pipe supports;

Via Roma, Surfers Paradise (Isle of Capri)

  • Replacement of approximately 127m of the existing 300mm and 450mm AC mains on the bridge with a single 500mm diameter Epoxy Lined Ductile Iron (DIEL) main with new galvanised steel brackets on the western side of the bridge, for the full span of the bridge. New brackets to be installed similar to existing brackets, with no drill holes on the bridge;
  • Decommission and remove approximately 127m of the existing 375mm AC main on the eastern side of the bridge, cap both open ends of the main and blank flange at the nearest valve on either side of the bridge to avoid accidental flow into decommissioned sections of the main;
  • Provision of an appropriately sized air valve, thrust blocks, anchor blocks and pipe supports;
