As part of the infrastructure upgrade program being completed in Deniliquin, Eire Contractors was chosen to complete the work on the Upgrade of Pumping Station No 1. This pumping station was 13.5m deep and the Eire team had to come up with an effective by-pass system that would operate through peak wet weather flows at 12.5 meters before we could take the station off line.
Ran by-pass system for 1 week and decommissioned station, demolished the existing switch room from top of station, cut new opening in roof, cut holes in walls to convert from Dry Well to fully Wet Well and removed old pipe & fittings.
Installed new Knife Gate valve to incoming sewer as previous design did not allow for this, constructed a new valve pit & new switch room, poured a new floor and installed new pipe work & pumps to the station and through to valve pit. We then had to break in to old risers and re-connect new rising main, re-install the upgraded SCA to the new switch room, connect & test telemetry and commission the station. The station was run for 1 week before removing the by-pass system. In addition we designed & upgraded the deodorisation system including removing old blower unit & installing new unit. All work was carried out by Eire personnel apart from the electrical work.
